Short answer: Instagram Creator Marketplace is available to eligible professional creator and business accounts, but Meta warns that access may not yet be available to every account. Look in your Instagram Professional Dashboard under branded-content or creator-marketplace tools. If you can join, add relevant interests, preferred brands, and a portfolio that explains who trusts you and what you help them decide. If the tool is missing, verify account type, status, app version, market availability, and rollout before assuming your follower count is the problem.

Verified July 2026. Instagram navigation and availability change by account and market, so treat the current app as the final interface source.

What Instagram Creator Marketplace does

Instagram Creator Marketplace connects professional accounts with brands looking for branded content and Partnership Ads. Creators can:

  • become discoverable to brands;
  • state content interests and preferred brand partners;
  • create a portfolio;
  • receive partnership messages in a dedicated inbox;
  • view projects and express interest;
  • review campaign details, requirements, and proposed rate in the app.

Brands access the marketplace through Meta Business Suite. They can search and filter creators, view platform insights and portfolios, create lists, send messages, and invite multiple creators to a project.

Meta has been expanding brand-side access globally and adding AI recommendations, ad-performance predictions, and signals such as prior brand mentions or creator interest. That can increase discovery. It does not tell the brand whether you want the product, whether the timing works, or what rights you will approve.

Current eligibility: what Meta says and what it does not

Meta's Help Center states that Creator Marketplace is for business and creator accounts on Instagram and that it is available only to professional accounts. It also says the product may not be available to you yet.

Meta does not publish one universal public follower threshold on the overview page. Be careful with articles that invent one. Your ability to see the feature can be affected by account type, rollout, market, account status, age or policy requirements surfaced in-app, and the current app version.

The cleanest test is the product itself:

  1. Open Instagram and go to your profile.
  2. Open the Professional Dashboard.
  3. Look under Your tools, Branded content, or the current creator-marketplace entry point.
  4. Follow the onboarding prompts and agree to the applicable terms.

The label and path can move. Do not repeatedly switch account type because a screenshot from another market places the button elsewhere.

Missing access: troubleshoot in this order

1. Confirm you are on the intended account

Creators who manage several profiles often check the correct settings on the wrong account. Verify the username before changing anything.

2. Confirm the account is professional

Creator Marketplace is not for a standard personal account. A creator account is usually the sensible professional type for an individual creator; a business account may fit an organization. Choose based on the account's real use, not a rumor that one type is guaranteed earlier access.

3. Update Instagram and reopen the Professional Dashboard

An old app build can hide or misplace tools. Update the app, fully close it, reopen it, and check the dashboard rather than relying on a bookmarked settings path.

4. Review account status and professional eligibility notices

Check Account Status for restrictions, removed content, recommendation limits, or branded-content eligibility issues. Resolve any visible requirement through the in-app process. Do not pay a third party that promises marketplace access.

5. Check country and rollout reality

Meta expanded Creator Marketplace beyond the US to additional markets beginning in 2024 and has continued expanding the brand side. Creator availability can still differ. Meta's own Help page says the feature may not be available yet. If the account is otherwise healthy and professional, rollout may be the honest answer.

6. Do not mistake an empty inbox for missing access

Meta says the dedicated Partnership Messages folder appears only after you receive at least one brand message. If you can access the marketplace but do not see that inbox folder, you may simply have no message yet.

7. Use in-app support with evidence

If the feature should be available but the interface is broken, capture the username, account type, app version, country, Account Status, and screenshots of the dashboard. A precise report is more useful than “Creator Marketplace disappeared.”

Create a profile brands can use

Marketplace visibility is not the same as marketplace readiness. A strong profile helps a marketer decide whether your audience and content can solve the campaign's problem.

Interests: be specific enough to match

Choose subjects you regularly cover and can discuss credibly. A long list of popular categories may generate more irrelevant opportunities and make the profile harder to understand.

Translate a broad niche into an audience need:

Broad label

More useful positioning

Personal finance

Helps early-career professionals compare credit, banking, and debt decisions

Entrepreneurship

Helps first-time founders choose tools and systems for operating a small company

Wellness

Helps busy professionals build evidence-aware daily routines

Tech

Helps nontechnical buyers understand software before committing

The point is not to stuff the profile with keywords. It is to help a brand see the customer problem you can explain.

Preferred brands: signal real fit

Instagram lets creators identify preferred brand partners. Choose brands you could discuss naturally and would genuinely consider. A preference is an invitation to evaluate, not an advance endorsement.

Portfolio: show the mechanism

A useful portfolio contains:

  • one-sentence audience and content positioning;
  • three to six representative pieces of recent work;
  • examples that show how you teach, demonstrate, compare, or tell a story;
  • current platform insights with a clear observation window;
  • approved sponsorship examples or verified results you may share;
  • available formats and realistic production strengths;
  • a current business contact.

Do not fill the portfolio only with your highest-viewed Reels. A marketer needs to see the work they might buy. If your best product demonstration received fewer views than a broad entertainment post, it may still be the more relevant proof.

Comment quality: the evidence that does not fit neatly in a card

Read your own comments the way a brand will. Relevant job titles, specific questions, useful disagreement, and conversations about the problem the brand solves can reveal audience trust and intent. “Great video” repeated 500 times says less than 30 detailed comments from people actively making the decision.

You cannot manually upload every qualitative signal into Marketplace. You can choose portfolio examples that make those conversations visible and be ready to explain them when a brand asks why your audience fits.

What happens when a brand contacts you

Brand messages can arrive in the Partnership Messages area. A project may describe the deliverables, requirements, schedule, and proposed rate. Review it as an invitation to negotiate, not a completed offer.

Ask for the missing pieces:

  • What customer action and KPI matter most?
  • Where will the content publish?
  • Is the brand asking for organic posting, Partnership Ads, or both?
  • How many concepts, scripts, filmed versions, and revisions?
  • What product access and trial time are available?
  • What claims or disclosures are required?
  • What usage term, platforms, countries, edits, and media-spend cap apply?
  • Is there category exclusivity?
  • Who pays, on what schedule, and under which agreement?

If the brand cannot answer everything at first, be curious. The goal is to understand the request before rejecting it. If the team refuses to clarify rights, asks you to hide the sponsorship, or wants claims you cannot support, that is a reason to decline.

Partnership Ads need separate permission

Instagram Creator Marketplace is closely connected with Partnership Ads. A brand may want to amplify your organic post or run an ad using the partnership identity.

That can be valuable to both sides. It is also more than an ordinary organic deliverable. Define:

Term

Decision

Identity

Which creator and brand handles appear?

Content

Existing post or new ad-only creative?

Duration

How long may the permission remain active?

Spend

Is there a paid-media cap or renewal trigger?

Placements

Feed, Stories, Reels, or other supported placements?

Edits

Can the advertiser crop, caption, remix, or change audio?

Territory

Which countries may receive the ad?

Expiry

Who removes or renews access?

Compensation

What fee covers the added right and exposure?

The Marketplace project and the ad permission may sit in the same ecosystem, but they are separate commercial decisions. A creator can like the brand and still negotiate a shorter usage term or spend cap.

A project scorecard

Score each area from 0 to 2 before replying:

Area

0

1

2

Audience relevance

Category label only

Plausible problem fit

Clear recurring audience need

Product confidence

No access or unsupported claims

Some information, more testing needed

Enough access to speak honestly

Creative fit

Rigid imported script

Negotiable execution

Native idea improves the content

Scope clarity

Deliverables and rights unclear

Some gaps

Work, approvals, rights, and timing defined

Economics

Price ignores work or risk

Could work after terms move

Fair for full ask with credible upside

Relationship

Poor communication

Unproven

Collaborative, responsive, long-term potential

A low total is not automatically a no. It tells you what to ask. A brand may be new to creator marketing and improve quickly once the gaps are visible. Continued resistance after a clear explanation is a different signal.

Creator Marketplace profile checklist

☐ Professional account confirmed.

☐ Account Status reviewed.

☐ Interests reflect recurring content, not every possible category.

☐ Preferred brands are genuine possibilities.

☐ Audience positioning names a problem or decision.

☐ Portfolio shows representative recent work and sponsor-relevant skills.

☐ Metrics have a current observation window.

☐ Business contact is monitored.

☐ Project questions for scope, rights, approvals, data, and payment are ready.

☐ Partnership Ad permission is reviewed against the signed deal.

Fix access once, then improve the profile

Follow the access tree once, then spend your time on the profile a brand can actually use. If regular opportunities are creating negotiation, rights, approval, invoicing, and renewal work you do not want to manage alone, you can submit the general Creators Agency creator application.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many followers do you need for Instagram Creator Marketplace?

Meta's public overview does not give one universal follower threshold. It says the feature is for professional creator and business accounts and may not be available to every account yet. Use the eligibility and onboarding shown in your Professional Dashboard.

Why is Creator Marketplace not showing?

Check the correct profile, professional account type, current app version, Account Status, country availability, and rollout. If you have marketplace access but no Partnership Messages folder, Meta says that folder appears after the first brand message.

Can brands see my rate?

Projects can include a proposed rate, and Marketplace helps brands evaluate and contact creators. Any visible number should be treated as context for the stated scope. Final pricing still depends on the deliverables, approvals, usage, paid media, exclusivity, and timing.

Does joining guarantee brand deals?

No. It makes you discoverable within the marketplace. Demand still depends on active briefs, audience fit, content quality, brand interest, geography, and commercial alignment.

Can I opt out later?

Meta says creators and brands can opt out of Creator Marketplace. Check the current settings and terms in your account before doing so.

Is a Marketplace deal the same as a Partnership Ad?

No. Marketplace facilitates discovery and collaboration. A Partnership Ad is a paid amplification format that requires the applicable permission and terms. Use the separate cross-platform amplification guide for setup comparisons.
